AURA streamlines and automates research administration, allowing for process automation, electronic routing and approval, system-to-system submission to Grants.gov, and data warehouse reporting. The system helps reduce administrative burden on faculty and staff, as well as the regulatory compliance risk for the University.

The BSD/UCMC IRBs are charged with the responsibility for review, approval, and surveillance of research involving human subjects carried out in the BSD and the University of Chicago Medical Center.
IRB – Crown Family School & Chapin Hall
The Crown-CH IRB reviews and approves, disapproves, or defers research protocols submitted through the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, Urban Education Institute, or Chapin Hall.
IRB – Social & Behavioral Sciences
The SBS IRB serves all University of Chicago schools, divisions, and departments that do not fall under the jurisdiction of the BSD IRB or the Crown-CH IRB.

URA provides guidance, support, and oversight for sponsored projects at the University of Chicago. It focuses on the functional areas of Sponsored Operations, Research Finance, and Research Compliance.
